Meet Bruce: The Street Cat with a Heart of Gold

Bruce used to live on the streets. He hung around with a group of wild cats who didn’t exactly make life easy for him. He was the soft one in a tough crowd. Eventually, someone saw how sweet he was and brought him in. A few vet visits, lots of treats, and endless snuggles later, Bruce was fully settled into home life.

He did test FIV positive, but that doesn’t slow him down. Now he spends his days safe, spoiled, and soaking up all the love he missed out on before.

When I first met Bruce, I couldn’t believe how friendly he was. He brushed up against my leg and flopped right over. He gave me that wide-eyed look that says, go on, you know you want to. Then came the belly — the classic trap. Except Bruce isn’t like other cats. He lives for belly rubs. He stretches out like a hot dog, purring and rolling in total bliss.

Bruce adored the camera. Anything that went click, clack, boing, pop instantly caught his attention — and of course, cameras do just that. He’d perk up, ears forward, eyes wide.

The best part about photographing a new creature is that you never know what you’re going to get. The most important step of the session? Bribery. My camera bag is stocked with treats and toys a-plenty. Bonding is key. It’s the step that really brings out the pet’s personality and makes the session shine.

Bruce is just pure heart. After everything he’s been through, he still greets the world with trust, warmth, and that ridiculously smoochable belly.
